Mary
Kate Wright, sole proprietor and certified medical illustrator, graduated cum laude from Tulane
University where she majored
in studio art and minored in media arts. She earned her Master of Science
in Medical Illustration at the Medical College of Georgia, graduating with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
Following graduation, Mary
Kate worked at the Hughston Foundation, Inc. creating original
2D and 3D artwork for
publication, digital presentations, and patient-information posters, brochures,
and videos. She also served as illustrator and art director of the Hughston Health Alert, a quarterly patient-education newsletter. Currently, she owns
her own medical illustration business with clients from all aspects of the medical and scientific community. A few
clients are Cardax Pharmaceuticals, The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Taueret Laboratories,
Juneau Biomedical, Quality Medical Publishing, and the Lucina Foundation.
Her
award-winning work has been published in sports medicine journals,
newspapers, books, brochures, and patient education newsletters. Mary Kate is an active
member of the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) and became a
board certified
medical illustrator in July of 2005. Her student artwork has won awards from the AMI, the Medical
College
of Georgia, and the University of Georgia, including the Stenstrom Award of Excellence. Professionally
she has been recognized in the APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, winning the Grand
Award in Design and Illustration in 2004
and an Award of Excellence in Illustration and Typography
in 2005.
